Veteran Congress leader Vasant Sathe passes away


Veteran Congress leader Vasant Sathe passed away in Delhi on 23-9-2011. He was 86.
Sathe, who was a lawyer by training, became a parliamentarian in 1972 and a cabinet minister during the 1980s.The socialist leader came to prominence in the Congress after Indira Gandhi split the party for a second time in 1978.He is also known for his tenure as I&B minister when Indian television moved into colour broadcasting for the Asian Games 1982.
