Malayalam Film Director Sasikumar bags J C Daniel Award 2012

Malayalam Film director Sasikumar has bagged the state government’s J C Daniel Award for the year 2012. The award is being conferred to him for his overall contributions to the film field. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000, a plaque and a citation.
Nambiathusseril Varkey John is an Indian film director who has worked for Malayalam, is better known as Sasikumar by his screen name. He was born at Alappuzha, Kerala, on 14 October 1927.
He had shown a flair for acting in dramas even when he was a 10-year-old boy. His school education was completed by Leo Thirteenth High School, Alleppey, and St. Ephrem's School, Mannanam. He had represented the football team at Kerala University during his college life. He passed on from Sacred Hearts College, Thevara, as a graduate in economics.
He directed over 141 movies in his film career which began in the mid 1960s. He is often referred to as Hitmaker Sasikumar owing mainly to his films' commercial success.
