Sangeetha Saraswathy Venkateshwara Dakshinamoorthy passed away


Legendary music composer Dakshinamoorthy passed away on 2nd August 2013. He was 94. 
Dakshinamoorthy made his 1951 debut in Malayalam cinema with Jeevitha Nouka, one of the most famous composers in Malayalam since the 1960s. He composed songs for more than 125 movies in a career that spanned 50 years.

Dakshinamoorthy, the master of semi-classical songs, introduced many singers to films such as P Susheela; He also played a significant part in the career of the three generations of the Yesudas family, including his father Augustine Joseph and son Vijay Yesudas.
Dakshinamoorthy, a native of Ambalappuzha in Kerala, won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Music Director in 1971, and in 1998 received the lifetime achievement award from the state government. Singer Susheela regarded him as a "teacher of patients." "He was so gracious and never made anybody feel small," said Susheela, who had last met the singer at a March meeting. Read more
