Kerala Sahitya Akademi awards announced

The Kerala Sahitya Akademi awards for 2010 were announced here on Thursday.
Sachithananthan
and C. Radhakrishnan 
would be awarded honorary membership.The award carries a cash prize of Rs 50,000, a gold medal of one sovereign, certificate and a Ponnada. The awards were decided during the executive meet of Akademi presided over by Kerala Sahitya Akademi president P Valsala.
The awards for overall contribution are won by Omcheri, NN Pillai, Malayath Appunni, Joseph Mattom, Sara Thomas, K Gopalakrishnan, and S Remshan Nair. Barsa by Khadeeja Mumtaz won the award for the best novel. Kavitha by Mullanezhi has been adjusted the best poem. The award carries a cash prize of Rs 30,000, certificate, plaque and Ponnada.

Drama – M Santhakumar – ‘Maram Peyyunnu’
Short Story – EP Sreekumar – ‘Parasya Sareeram’
Literary criticism – MR Chandrasekharan – Malayalam Novel ‘Innum Innaleyum’
Autobiography – Dr PKR Warriyer – ‘Anubhavangal Anubhavangal’
Travelogue – Musafar Ahmed – ‘Marubhoomiyude Athmakadha’
Children’s Literature - Sumangala – ‘Nadannu Theeratha Vazhikal’
