‘PORFIRIO’ (Colombian film) wins best film at Indian International Film Festival 2011

Colombian director Alejendro Landes' feature film ‘PORFIRIO’ won the best film award at the 42nd International Film Festival of India ( IFFI) that ended in Panaji, capital of India's western beach state of Goa.

‘PORFIRIO’ tells a valiant story of a paralyzed man who tries to hijack a plane. The film has been made in collaboration with other countries like Spain and France.
The award carries a Golden Peacock trophy, two certificates and 20 lakh rupees each to both the director and the film's producer Franciso Aljure.
Silver Peacock Award for Best Director was presented to Azghar Ferhadi for his Iranian film NADER and SIMIN-A SEPARATION "for the deft handling of a deeply complex human situation and the intensity of performances he elicited from his actors in the film 'A Separation'". The award carries a trophy, a certificate and 10 lakh rupees.
Nadezhda Markina
The Silver Peacock Award for Best Actor (Female) category was given to the actor NADEZHDA MARKINA for her role in the Russian film ‘ELENA’. 
Sasson Gabai
The Silver Peacock Award for Best Actor (Male) category was won by SASSON GABEI for his role in an Israeli film ‘Restoration’.
Salim Ahmad
The special jury award went to Salim Ahmad, director of the Indian film ‘ADAMINTE MAKAN ABU’ means Abu, Son of Adam’ in Malayalam language, "for its purity of vision encompassing religion, nature and humanity". The film is also Indian's entry for next year's Oscar best foreign language film.
