Rahul Gandhi


Rahul Gandhi (born 19 June 1970) is an Indian politician and member of the Parliament of India, representing the Amethi constituency। His political party is the Indian National Congress। He belongs to the Nehru-Gandhi family, the most prominent political family in India. In 2009, he turned down a cabinet post in the Manmohan Singh government.
Early life
Rahul Gandhi was born in New Delhi, the first amongst 2 children of Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India and Sonia Gandhi, the current Congress President. He is the elder brother of Priyanka Gandhi. His grandmother was Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
He attended Modern School, New Delhi before entering the The Doon School, also his father's alma mater, from 1981-83 before being home-schooled for security reasons। Starting university at Harvard, he got his B।A। from Rollins College, Florida in 1994 due to interruptions in his studies caused by security concerns after his father's assassination. He received an M.Phil. in Development Studies in 1995 from Trinity College, Cambridge.

1990 – Dropped out of St Stephen’s and headed for the United States.
1990 – The Harvard College records shows Rahul Gandhi as attending rather than a degree student
1994 – Completed B.A. from Rollins College, Florida in US
1999 – Left his job at a financial consultancy firm in UK and returned India to help his mother and sister prepare for that year’s Lok Sabha elections.
2003 – There spread widespread talks of Rahul Gandhi joining politics
2004 – In March, Rahul finally announced that he would represent the Amethi constituency in Uttar Pradesh state of India and wins with landslide victory.
2007 – Appointed general secretary of All India Congress Committee. Also made in charge of NSUI and Youth Congress.
