The Kerala State Institute of Children’s Literature (KSICL) has declared its awards for the year, 2009. Sippi Pallipuram has been chosen for the C G Santhakumar award for the contribution to children’s literature.
He will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000, citation and memento.
Ramakrishnan Kumaranalloor’s ‘Thooval’, poetry collection published by the Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad has bagged the award in the poetry category.
The novel by M R Renukumar, ‘Naalam classile varal’, published by the KSICL, ‘Janthulokathile kauthukangal’ by M Geethanjali in the science category and ‘Ambathu Marakathakal’ translated by G S Unnikrishnan have won awards in respective categories.
Gopi Pattithara has been chosen as the best illustrator for his work in ‘Njan Kunjimoosha’ published by the Kerala Sastra Sahitya Parishad. In the drama section, the Abraham Joseph award has been given to ‘Ponnanayam’, written by Alinthara G Krishnapillai. The awards carry a purse of Rs 10,000, citation and memento.
