Muttathu Varkey award for P. Valsala


Writer P. Valsala has been selected for this year's Muttathu Varkey award. She has been selected for her total contribution to Malayalam short-story writing. The award carries a purse of Rs.33,333, a citation and statuette.
Ms. Valsala is the 19th recipient of the award. Earlier, writers Paul Zacharia, Kamala Suraiya, T. Padmanabhan, and M. Sukumaran have been given the award for their contribution to short-story writing. The office-bearers of the Muttathu Varkey Foundation that has instituted the prize said tThe award for literary contribution from campus has gone to Vimeesh Maniyoor of Malabar Christian College for his entry ‘Parisheelanam.' The award carries a cash prize of Rs.4,000 and a citation. The awards will be presented at the Kerala Sahithya Akademi Hall, Thrissur, on May 28, the 21st death anniversary of Varkey.
