Papercraft “Castle on the Sea”
This gigantic papercraft sculpture is the work of Japanese art student Wataru Itou. Translated from Umi no Ue no Oshiro to A Castle on the Sea, the work is on display at Umihotaru, essentially a parking lot in the middle of the ocean, located between Tokyo and Chi Prefecture on the Tokyo Aqua-Line highway. The castle took 4 years to complete, and features working LED lighting, and a moving train. And yes, it is made almost entirely out of paper.
