Species: Though the pictures shown are of domestic cattle, there are 13 species of wild cattle including the Saola, Auroch, Wild Yak, Gaur, Bantang, Kouprey, AMerican Bison, European Bison, Wild Water Buffalo, Tamaraw, Lowland Anoa, Mountain anoa, and American Buffalo.
Lifespan: The average lifespan of cattle is 18-25 years.
Size & Weight: The largest species of cattle is the Indian Gaur, which can grow to be over 3,000 lbs. The smallest species is the Anoa, which is only about 2.5 ft tall and weighs about 300 lbs.
Habitat: Cattle are usually found in grassy plains, wetlands, savannas, and even rain forests.
Diet: Cattle feed on grasses and other plant life.
Family Lif: Many species of cattle live in herds. The herds consist of a female herd that is made up of female cattle and her offspring. Male herds roam alone and don’t meet up with a female herd until mating season. Young male cattle live with the female herd until they are about three years old and mature enough to go off on their own.
