Veteran Actress Santha Devi
passed away at the age of 85 ,today( 20th november 2010) at private hospital in Kozhikode.Santha Devi was suffering from kidney failure for the past few months and was on treatment.Santha Devi better known by her stage name Kozhikode Santha Devi, is an Indian Malayalam film and stage actress. She won the National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Yamanam (1992) directed by Bharath Gopi.Santha Devi made her cinema debut in Minnaminungu (1957) directed by Ramu Karyat. She acted more than 480 films in supporting roles.Santha Devi was awarded the life time achievement award of Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi in 2005. She has acted in almost 480 films.
