Kumbha Bharani Festival (Utsavam) in Kerala 2011


Kumbha Bharani, also known as Bharani Utsavam, is a popular festival of Kerala celebrated on the Malayalam month of Kumbham (February – March) every year. Kumbha Bharani Festival is a one day festival celebrated mainly on all Bhagavathy Temples in Kerala. Several traditional folk art forms of Kerala are held as part of the festival. Some of them include Kolkali, Padayani, Ammankudam and whole night Kathakali performance. Kuthiyottam, Kettukazha and Kuthiras (huge decorated forms of temple cars) are other major tourist attractions of this Kerala festival. This year, Kumbha Bharani Festival 2011 is on 10th March 2011, Thursday.
