The young scientist award, instituted by Indian National Science Congress has been awarded to V. N Linshi, the senior research fellow at National Institute of Oceanography, Goa. The award has been given to her for her works relating to environment.
Her discovery of ‘Feraminifera’ a single celled organism that helps in finding out the amount of pollution in seas has helped her bag this prestigious award. The present process of finding out the amount of pollution in seas is very expensive. She extensively researched in this subject for four years.The award was given to her by the Nobel laureate Venkitaraman Ramakrishnan.
