Former Nepalese PM Krishna Prasad Bhattarai passes away

Nepal's former prime minister Krishna Prasad Bhattarai, the last surviving founding leader of Nepali Congress, died on Friday night at a hospital here. He was 87.
The doctors at the Norvic International Hospital here where Bhattarai was admitted pronounced him dead at 11:26 pm, the Republica reported.
"Bhattarai died of cardiac arrest," Executive Director and Consultant Cardiologist at the hospital Dr Bharat Rawat was quoted as saying by the paper. Bhattarai, who was admitted to hospital three weeks ago, had renal shutdown and doctors had given up almost all hope of saving him.
His body was taken to his Ashram in Bandegaun, Lalitpur after midnight.
Earlier, President Ram Baran Yadav had visited the hospital at around 10 in the evening after hearing of Bhattarai's terminal condition. 
Krishna Prasad Bhattarai (13 December 1924 – 4 March 2011) 
Bhattarai was a Nepalese political leader. He was seen as respectable figure in and outside of the political circle. Widely seen as a maverick leader of Nepali Congress Party, he made his position by transitioning Nepal from an absolute monarchy to a democratic multi-party system.
Bhattarai was twice the Prime Minister of Nepal, once heading the Interim Government from 19 April 1990 to 26 May 1991, and then as elected Prime Minister from 31 May 1999 to 22 March 2000.
Bhattarai was the officiating President of the Nepali Congress for nearly 26 years from February 12, 1976, and finally elected to the post of president of party in 1992 till 1996. He was actively participated in democratic Movements of Nepal from its inception. The constitution of Nepal (1990) was promulgated while he was interim Prime minister of Nepal and credited for successfully holding the parliametary election in 1990, a milestone in Nepalese political history.
