Salim Kumar Wins Best Actor National Film Awards 2011

Malayalam film actor Salim Kumar, who usually restricts himself to comedy roles, has won the National award for best actor,.
The award was given for his role in the Malayalam film 'Adaminte Makan Abu' [Abu, son of Adam.] The film also won the award for the best feature film.
Tamil Actor Dhanush also got the best actor award for another film.
The actor, a resident of Kochi, has primarily acted in comedy roles, but has done a few 'character roles' as well. One of his memorable performances was in the film 'Achan urangatha veedu' (the House of Sleepless Father) in which he portrayed the father of a victim of child abuse in Kerala.
The role had won him the Kerala State Film Award for the Second Best Actor in 2005.
In 2010, he acted in films such as Cheriya Kallanum Valiya Policum, Pokkiri Raja and Kaaryasthan.

He is a Malayalam film actor and mimicry artist. He is one of the prominent comedy actors in the current generation on Malayalam movie, but has shown his acting versatility in films such as Achanurangatha Veedu, Gramophone,Adaminte Makan Abu, and Perumazhakkalam. 
He won the National Award for the best actor for Adaminte Makan Abu in 2011 and Kerala State Film Award for the Second Best Actor in 2005 for his role as Samuel in Lal Jose's Achanurangatha Veedu.

He attended the Govt LP School, N Paravoor and later enrolled into the Govt. Boys High School, North Paravoor. Later he graduated with a BA from Maharajas College, Ernakulam. He won the University title in Mimicry three times. He chose Cochin Kalabhavan, and later moved on to Cochin Sagar to further cultivate his skills in mimicry. He was also a performer in Comicola, a hit comedy program on Asianet.

He is a National Award winning Indian film actor and playback singer. His filmography includes the critically acclaimed blockbusters Thulluvadho Ilamai, Kadhal Kondein, Pudhupettai and Aadukalam, as well as the commercially successful films Thiruda Thirudi, Thiruvilayadal Arambam, Polladhavan, Yaaradi Nee Mohini and Padikathavan.
