Dakshinamoorthy, the master of semi-classical songs, introduced many singers to films such as P Susheela; He also played a significant part in the career of the three generations of the Yesudas family, including his father Augustine Joseph and son Vijay Yesudas.Dakshinamoorthy, a native of Ambalappuzha in Kerala, won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Music Director in 1971, and in 1998 received the lifetime achievement award from the state government.
