The poem Syama Madhavam was hugely successful in presenting lord Krishna in a poetically different perspective, the award jury opined. The work was a blend of tradition and modernity. Mr. Varma is the Resident Editor of the Desabhimani.
The award contains a statuette designed by sculptor Kanayi Kunhiraman, Rs.25,000, and a citation.
