Malayalees famous comedian Mala Aravindan passed away, who has acted in over 400 films over the last 37 years. He was best known in Malayalam films for his work as a comedian and character-artist. He was 76.
Born to Ayyappan and Ponnamma, Aravindan began his career as a tabla artist. He started playing tabla as a background artist and was associated with most of the famous professional theatres of the time. He started acting in minor roles in various plays and then made his movie debut with the 1968 movie Sindhooram directed by Balakrishnan. He has become an integral part of the Malayalam film industry, acting in famous movies such as "Meesha Madhavan," "Tharavu," "Patalam," and "Thadavara." He has entertained the Malayali movie goers for about four decades with more than 500 movies in his repertoire. Mala Aravindan worked with three generations of Malayalam actors, from Prem Nazir, Jayan, Soman, Mammootty, Mohanlal to Dileep and now the younger actors.
