Yesudas was selected for the honour by a jury headed by 'mridangam' maestro Umayalpuram Sivaraman, an official release said here today.
The award, named after legendary musician and composer Swati Tirunal, comprises Rs one lakh, citation and memento.Besides singing hundreds of films films in various Indian languages, Yesudas has also made mark as classical musician.He is also famous for his devotional songs.
